Taking Time for You During the Holidays
When it comes to the holiday season, many people think, “I love this time of year!” Family is near, joy is in the air and memories are being made.

But sometimes as women, we can’t help thinking, “I get so stressed out this time of year!” Between decorating, hosting the family dinner, making cookies for your neighbors and co-workers, buying and wrapping all the presents, not to mention living your day-to-day life, it’s easy to see why.

Here are a few things you can do to give yourself a much-needed breather from the pressures of the holidays:

• Have a holiday-free day. No wrapping, no festive music, no sending out cards. Just live one day as you would were it not this time of year.
• Make a donation. Whether it’s clothes you don’t wear anymore, your kids’ old toys, or a monetary donation, you’ll feel good inside after giving to others. After all, that’s what the holiday season is all about, right?
• Give yourself a gift. Something that will help you relax, like a massage or a new book. After a little R&R, you’ll be ready to get back into the swing of the holiday season.

What do you do to stay sane this time of year? Add a comment to let the rest of us in on your secret.

Happy holidays! Until next time,

I was actually taken aback at the idea of having a holiday free day, lol. It just sounds so grinchy.

Instead I think you should have some private holiday time, where you can do what you like on your own terms to have a little celebration by yourself.

My favorite way to do this is to have a Christmas tea by myself. Back in the mid to late 1990's tea parties really came back in to fashion and I collected several tea party books. One of the books mentioned a "solitary tea" as a way to treat yourself and have some personal time, so I just translated that into a holiday ritual.

I buy some fancy cookies (or you can make them), fix some dainty sandwiches, add some fruit and some tea, turn on some Christmas music and sit by the lighted tree or the fire and relax.

I suggest checking your bookstore or library for tea party books.
hi?:| look i have never been on here and i was wondering what u can all do on here. and is there a way u can chat on here with other members? thanks
My secret is spending a Saturday every couple of weeks with my man under my terms. I am talking about a long bath together, dinner, perhaps a movie or dancing, some soft romance time in the early evening and heart melting passion until we fall a sleep in each other’s arms.

Sometimes he fights the idea of having a full day as “our day”, but I know in his heart he would like to do nothing better, nor would I. It takes us away from all of life’s problems and reminds us – at a slower pace – why we love each other.

I not only recommend this for the holiday season, but occasionally throughout the year.
