Let me also say that I am very leary of WHY men date women who are younger than them.

I am 35 and on dating websites. It's outrageous how many men in their late 20's to early 30's don't want to date a woman their own age.

Well it is easy to see why a guy in his 40's 50's or 60's wants to date younger women. But why a guy that is barely past his 10 year high school reunion?

My best guess is that it is a control issue. In a world where women are getting more and more equality, the easiest way to for a man to have the upper hand is to just be older than her.

It also may be that these guys know women their own age who aren't yet married are probably ready to do so and they are not.

But either way, their online profiles tell the story and I try to stay away from those guys.

I never understood the apeal of having a romantic relationship with someone significantly out of your age group. But maybe that was due to my upbringing.

I am an only child and my parents were 39 when I was born. Even among my cousins, those that weren't out of my age group lived in other states. Inspite of my friends, I could never spend ENOUGH time around people my own age to satisfy myself.

My motto is "If I couldn't have gone to high school with you, I shouldn't be dating you"

So I would have to say I can't go with someone more than 4 years older or younger than me. 5 tops!

I don't think age difference matters as long as it is legal LOL if you guys like each other than go for it and see what happens.

just remember there is no law in affect (other than that of the under 18 rules) that say there has to be a minimal age between each spouse. basically...if you are interested in someone that is either younger or older than you it really shouldnt matter.

i got with a guy when i was 17...at that time he was 25....that is 8 years difference and everyone hated the idea of me being with a man that much older than myself when i was still "so young".
well dear...i am now 27 years old have one daughter and that man is 35 years old and we are still together today. we are starting our 11th year together...and we had alot of people mad at us or downgrading us for being together...using terms such as robing the cradle or daddy lover lol....they were not nice things to have been said back then but that was a long time ago now and it just made us stronger.

ultimately you need to just listen to yourself and determine if you are ready to persue a relationship with a person of a significantly different age. i realize now that it was never the "age" of the person that mattered to me.....it was the "age" of their mind (mentally able to connect with me or not).

take care and hope things work out....life is a long thing....dont try to cram everything important into the first 20 years....dont forget to explore different relationships to see what it is you really want.

take care and the best of luck ;)
